Tutorial Project: Model Planes.

Underline

History:

When I was a lot younger my father and I used to make Airfix model planes and tanks between us. In fact it got to the stage where we had so many between us we had to give a lot of them away. Invariably the ones that remained where boxed up and put in the loft never to be seen again until we developed an interest in photography.

Project:
Using the model planes we wanted to set it up with a false background and take pictures that gave the impression the aircraft models were actually in flight. We used my old Miranda MS-1 Super SLR camera to take the pictures but the set up method is valid for any camera.

Examples:
Shown here on the right hand side of the page are nine examples of the Airfix model aircraft and the resultant picture after setting up the false background and photographing them. Click on an image layout thumbnail to show a larger picture of the photographed plane and false background in question.
